Grasses & Moss
Juniper Moss
Juniper Moss
(Polytrichum juniperinum)
|
Juniper Moss is found growing in many areas. It is most common on the
ground, in shade, at the base of a tree or bush. I have seen it
growing on the open field in areas with afternoon shade. Sometimes I
see it on Oak trees or decomposing logs, but that is not common.
This picture
was taken showing the moss growing on the side of a rock with other varieties mosses and ferns.
This rock in almost always in the shade and remains damp much of the year.
