There are about 20,000 thousand species of pteridophyte, also called fern.
They are part of the Plantae kingdom. They are some of the
oldest living plants on earth.
On Quailhaven
there are many varieties that live in the moist and under the forest canopy.
Some are seen year round in moist years. In dry years they die back
and reappear as conditions become favorable.
