Cricket

(Gryllidae)

 

 

     There are about 900 species of Crickets, (Gryllidae), according to Wikipedia.  Quailhaven appears to have several species.  We have Field Crickets & Tree or Bush Crickets.

 

     During warm summer days the Tree or Bush Crickets sing in a loud chorus.  During the evening as dusk comes the Field Crickets sing.

 

     It is common to see the shed skin of the Tree or Bush Crickets on trees, bushes & buildings.

 

     One evening I recorded a cricket in the field:
