Western Hound's Tongue
(Cynoglossum grande) is in the genus Cynoglossum of the family Boraginaceae.
Its common names are Western Hound's Tongue, Pacific Hound's Tongue and
Borage.
Its name, hound's tongue, comes from the shape of its leaves.
The flowers, on a central stem, can be as tall as three
feet, or one meter.
The root, when ground, has medicinal uses, by some, in
treating burns, scalds, stomach aches and other conditions.

This wild flower was found behind the cabin in partial shade. There are
lots of these flowers in many areas. They began flowering in April.
